## Quick answer

Superluminal renders Cycles and EEVEE image sequences with Blender 4.0 through 5.2. Choose the farm version and output format before submission.

### Key benchmark facts

| Fact | Value | Context | Evidence |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Supported farm versions | Blender 4.0 through 5.2 | The version list includes each supported stable farm build. | |
| Add-on versions | Blender 4.4 or newer | The add-on can submit an older project to a matching farm version. | |
| Render engines | Cycles and EEVEE | The job uses the engine selected in Blender. | |
| Farm output | Image sequences | Supported formats include PNG, JPEG, OpenEXR, and OpenEXR Multilayer. | |

## Complete report

Superluminal renders Blender projects with Cycles or EEVEE on Blender 4.0 through 5.2.

The Superluminal add-on runs in Blender 4.4 or newer. It can submit an older `.blend` file to a matching farm version.

## Choose the farm Blender version

**Automatic** selects the same supported major and minor Blender version as the project. If that version is unavailable, it selects the closest supported version that is not newer.

You can also select a farm version yourself. Use the version that created the project when a scene depends on exact Blender behavior.

*Use the current Blender version or select another supported farm version.*

The [render-node settings guide](/docs/blender-addon/render-node-settings) explains both controls.

## Keep the render engine and scene settings

Choose Cycles or EEVEE in Blender. Superluminal uses that choice for the job and keeps the submitted scene settings.

[Cycles](/cycles-render-farm) is a physically based path tracer. [EEVEE](/eevee-render-farm) is a physically based real-time renderer.

A custom engine can also require an add-on, native components, and a farm license. See [add-on support](/addons) before submission.

## Render an image sequence

Superluminal can keep the scene's image format or use PNG, JPEG, OpenEXR, OpenEXR Multilayer, and their lossy OpenEXR variants.

It renders image sequences, not video files. Encode the downloaded frames as video after the render.

*The frame range, render pattern, and image format come from the Blender submission panel.*

Web previews help with quick checks. Use the original downloaded output to verify EXR layers, channels, compression, and linear values.

The [job submission guide](/docs/blender-addon/job-submission) explains the output controls. [Live previews](/live-previews) covers frame and output inspection.
